Fairfax Little League and Pony League Baseball

The Fairfax Boys Little League (3rd – 5th grade) and Pony League (6th – 8th grade) teams belong to the Iowa Valley Boys Baseball League (the players’ grade is determined by the grade they are in at the beginning of the season. IE: in 4th grade in May 2024, would be considered a 4th grader for the 2024 season). The league is made up of teams from the surrounding communities of Atkins, Blairstown, Fairfax, Keystone, Newhall, Norway, and Van Horne and Walford. Fairfax has enjoyed a great history in this league.

The Fairfax LL and PL teams play their home games at the Fairfax Regional Sports and Park Complex (the Complex) at 625 Linn St, Fairfax, and play away games at the individual town’s sites. Practice for the Fairfax teams will begin in early April, weather permitting. The season kicks off a week of “pre-season” games May 13 – 17, 2024. The actual game day/ time is TBD. The regular season starts on Monday, May 20, 2024, and concludes with a post-season tournament beginning Sunday, June 23 – Thursday, June 27*, 2024. Location and game day/ time TBD. There is a league All-Star game that will be held in Blairstown after the post-season tournament. More information on the All-Star game will be announced at a later date. Practices and games are scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays. Practice times are scheduled by the coaches and are usually after work during the week, but can include weekends depending on schedules. There will be a league coaches meeting at Newhall City Hall, 11 2nd Ave on April 15 at 7:00 PM.

There is a $65.00 registration fee for all participants. 

FYS believes every child should be able to play youth sports and offers a scholarship program for families if the registration fee poses a hardship. Scholarships are provided through local donations from participants like you. Every dollar helps. High School Rec Baseball

Fairfax belongs to the Eastern Iowa High School Club Baseball League (EIHSCBL) and is open for players in 9th – 12th grade (the player’s grade is determined by the grade they are in at the beginning of the season, IE: in 10th grade in May 2024, would be considered a 10th grader for the 2024 season). This rec league is designed for high school-aged players who still love the game but are not on a high school team roster. Fairfax has been a member of the league since 2014 when it was first established with Cedar Rapids and North Liberty. Marion has been a member since 2016.

The Fairfax teams play their home games at Fetter Field at 601 Church St in Fairfax and play away games at either Daniels Park in Cedar Rapids or North Liberty. Practice for the Fairfax teams will begin in early April, weather permitting. The regular season starts Monday, May 20, 2024, and ends with a postseason tournament beginning Monday, July 8, 2024, dates and locations TBD. Teams play twice per week and games can be on Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, or Thursday.  Practices are scheduled by the coaches and are usually after work during the week, but can include weekends depending on schedules.
