In 2024, Fairfax area baseball players had the opportunity to participate in the Dahm baseball/ Cedar Rapids baseball league. The players are divided up by age, so 10-year-olds play with 10-year-olds, 11-year-olds play with 11-year-olds, and so on. The Fairfax teams will be made up of Fairfax players but depending on the number of registrations they may be partnered up with other players. Coach Jack Dahm runs this league. Coach Dahm is currently the coach of the Clinton Lumber Kings and previously was the coach at Mount Mercy University. Mt. Mercy players help with the game day activities at each location. This was a very positive experience for our players. Not only were they able to play more games, but they were exposed to a different environment than that of rec baseball. The competition, rules, and game locations were all different from what they were used to. This experience will help the boys become better players, and also help them understand the game of baseball better. This is a separate league than the IVL rec league. There is a $75.00 registration fee for all participants. FYS believes every child should be able to play youth sports and offers a scholarship program for families if the registration fee poses a hardship. Scholarships are provided through local donations from participants like you. Every dollar helps.
