Fall Sports

Fairfax Youth Sports provides multiple leagues for boys and girls who are pre-k though highschoolers! The grade determined for age groups is the grade of the player at signup. (I.E: a player that will be in kindergarten in the spring of 2026 is considered a kindergartener.) Signups will begin in July.

FYS believes every child should have an opportunity to play youth sports and offers a scholarship program for families if the registration fee poses a hardship. Scholarships are provided through local donations from local businesses and participants like you. Every dollar helps. We need coaches. Our coaches make this one of the premier rec programs in the area. The registration fee will be waived for coaches. Email us at parks@cityoffairfax.org for more information.

Pre - K - Kindergarten

Fairfax T-Ball

Fairfax Youth Sports provides a T-ball league for boys and girls who are pre-K through kindergarten. This is a coed league. Games will be held on Tuesday and Thursday with times to be determined by the number of teams/registrants. Games will begin on Tuesday, August 18th, and go through Thursday, September 15th. Each team is assigned a practice date and time. Practices are on Tuesday or Thursday evenings at 5:30 or 6:00 beginning the last week of July. Coaches may practice outside of these days or times depending on their schedule. All teams play their games at the Fairfax Regional Sports and Park Complex (the Complex) at 625 Linn St, City Park Field at 700 Linn St, or Fetter Field at 601 Church St. If you have a special request, please include it in the comment section of the registration form (not all requests may be honored, but I will do my best).

There is a $40.00 registration fee for all participants (includes a team shirt, hat and an after-game snack)

1st - 2nd Grade

Little League Flag Football (coed)

Fairfax Youth Sports' newest recreation program is Little League Flag football. This league is available to all 1st and 2nd graders. Practices will start around August 1, and games will begin on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, and go through Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026. Team assignments are coed. Each team is assigned a practice date and time. Practices are on weekday evenings beginning the last week of July. Coaches may practice outside of these days or times depending on their schedule. This league plays on the soccer fields at Fairfax Regional Sports and Park Complex (the Complex) at 625 Linn St in Fairfax. 3rd - 4th Grade

Intermediate soccer

Fairfax Youth Sports provides an intermediate soccer program for 3rd and 4th grades. Games are played on Tuesday evenings beginning on August 18th, 2026, and finish on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. Team assignments are coed. Practices will begin around mid-July. Practice dates and times are up to the coaches, but are usually after work on Mon, Tues, Wed, or Thurs. The games are held at the Fairfax Regional Sports Complex (The Complex), 625 Linn St, Fairfax, IA. Registration will open in mid-June. If you have a special request, please include it in the comment section of the registration form (not all requests may be honored, but I will do my best).

Equipment requirements for all soccer leagues: Shin guards, socks that cover the shin guards completely, and soccer cleats. Tennis shoes can be worn. Baseball/Softball cleats (NO metal cleats) are acceptable IF the front toe cleat has been removed. Players may wear their jerseys over sweatshirts/hoodies.

There is a $45.00 registration fee for all participants (includes a team shirt and after-game snacks).

3rd - 12th Grade

Fall Ball baseball

Fairfax Youth Sports provides a Fall Baseball program for 10u - 18u player in the Dahm Baseball Fall League. The players are divided up by age, so 10-year-olds play with 10-year-olds, 11-year-olds play with 11-year-olds, and so on. The Fairfax teams will be made up of Fairfax players, but depending on the number of registrations, they may be partnered up with other players. Games are held on Saturdays or Sundays beginning on August 29th, 2026, and finish on Sunday, October 11th, 2026. Practices will begin around mid-July, Practice dates and times are up to the coaches. The games are held at the Fairfax Regional Sports Complex (The Complex), 625 Linn St, Fairfax, IA or other local baseball facilities. Registration will open in mid-June. If you have a special request, please include it in the comment section of the registration form (not all requests may be honored, but I will do my best).

Tournament Softball

FYS offers a tournament softball program for girls in the 10U age through 18U age brackets. This league is for girls who want additional time with the coaches and get additional practice and game time. The players try out for positions on the teams, and based on ability and age, may be selected for a team.

Since there is a tryout, not all girls will make the team. Teams practice starting in August twice per week and play in three or four tournaments in the fall and two or three tournaments in the spring. Girls playing on the tournament softball team are encouraged to play on one of Fairfax’s rec teams (Little League or Pony League)
