NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF FAIRFAX ZONING REGULATIONS

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 13, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Fairfax City Hall, 300 80th Street Court, Fairfax, Iowa 52228, to consider a proposed ordinance amending the City of Fairfax Zoning Regulations.

The proposed ordinance would add Section 166.14, "Application and Jurisdiction," to the City's Zoning Regulations. The purpose of the amendment is to provide that the City of Fairfax reserves all rights pursuant to Section 354.9 of the Code of Iowa within two (2) miles of the corporate limits of the City, including rights of review and approval of subdivision plats within the two-mile extraterritorial area to the extent permitted by law.

At the public hearing, all interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard for or against the proposed amendment. Written comments may be submitted to the City Clerk at Fairfax City Hall, 300 80th Street Court, Fairfax, Iowa 52228, or by email at fairfax@cityoffairfax.org, prior to the hearing.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is on file in the office of the City Clerk and is available for public inspection during regular business hours.
