The City of Fairfax will be holding a public hearing regarding revisions to the City of Fairfax, Iowa, Zoning Ordinance by possibly amending section 1.07.D. 3RM: Multiple Family Residential Bulk Regulations. The public hearing will be held on January 13th, 2026, during the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting.

FOR THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT – CCS PROJECT ON FM E-66 OVER OSCAR CREEK IN THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA;
IOWA DOT PROJECT NO. BRM-2462(602)--8N-57
At 6:00 PM, local time, on the 13th day of January, 2026 at the Council Chambers, 300 80th Street Court Fairfax, Iowa, a public hearing will be conducted by the Fairfax City Council on the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated total cost the proposed public improvements described hereby for the Bridge Replacement – CCS Project on FM E-66 Over Oscar Creek in the City of Fairfax, Iowa; Iowa DOT Project No. BRM-2462(602)--8N-57. The Fairfax City Council has previously filed these documents with the City Clerk of the City of Fairfax, Iowa.
Description of Public Improvement
The proposed improvements generally consist of the removal of the existing W. Cemetery Road (FM E-66) Bridge over Oscar Creek, located just west of U.S. Highway 151, and the reconstruction of a new bridge and bridge approaches along W. Cemetery Road over Oscar Creek. The new bridge shall be constructed along an adjusted alignment of W. Cemetery Road, with the new bridge being constructed at an angle and located slightly north of the existing bridge. The work includes, but is not limited to, removal of the existing bridge; grading and excavation; driving piles for the bridge abutments and pier; constructing the bridge abutments and pier, installing grid tied concrete block matting; constructing the P.C.C. bridge deck and adjacent walk, constructing P.C.C. barrier walls, constructing the P.C.C. approach pavement and granular subbase; HMA driveway paving; sanitary sewer manhole adjustment, installing a chain link fence; site restoration; and seeding. The Bridge Replacement – CCS Project on FM E-66 Over Oscar Creek in the City of Fairfax, Iowa; Iowa DOT Project No. BRM-2462(602)--8N-57 includes all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the construction of this project. This Project shall be funded with Federal dollars through the Bridge Formula Program (BFP) and the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program and shall be publicly let through the Iowa DOT with an anticipated bid letting date of December 16, 2025. The estimated total cost for this project is $1,333,122.30.

At 6:00 PM, local time, on the 13th day of January, 2026 at the Council Chambers, 300 80th Street Court Fairfax, Iowa, a hearing will be conducted by the Fairfax City Council on the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, opinion of probable cost and the proposed improvements described thereby for the 2026 Fairfax Complex Pickleball and Tennis Courts project. The Fairfax City Council has previously filed these documents with the City Clerk of the City of Fairfax, Iowa. The City Engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost for the Work is $465,000 for the base bid, and $500,000 for the base bid and all bid alternates. The proceedings of the City Council referring to the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and cost opinion are also made part of this notice. At this hearing, any interested person may file written and/or oral objections to these documents and the proposed improvements.
Description of Public Improvement
The proposed improvements generally consist of the construction of 4 pickleball courts and 1 tennis court at the Fairfax City Park and Athletic Complex. These courts shall be constructed in the open area south of Linn Street and east of the existing parking lot for the community gardens and dog park. The proposed courts shall be constructed primarily with granular subbase and an asphalt surface. Also included is the installation of the court fencing, surfacing, netting and posts. There shall also be PCC sidewalk & trail construction, as well as underground utilities. The 2026 Fairfax Complex Pickleball and Tennis Courts project includes all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the construction of this project. The City Engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost for the Work is $465,000 for the base bid, and $500,000 for the base bid and all bid alternates.
