Fairfax is home to two local fishing ponds, one off Highway 151 and Prairie View Dr, and one in the Heartland Heights development. Both ponds offer recreational fishing for all ages. In 2025, the Fairfax Parks & Rec Department held its first-ever Fishing Derby, giving both beginners and seasoned anglers a chance to score prizes. The Derby was a success, so look for this to become an annual event. Of course, anyone can fish in the ponds during normal park hours 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM 7 days a week.
