City of Fairfax Permits

Completed building permit applications are submitted at the Fairfax City Hall or emailed to Chris Philipp at cphilipp@cityoffairfax.org , along with a set of building plans. Once all required documentation is received, the building permit application will be submitted to the building department. They will review the information, call with any questions, and figure the amount due. You will be contacted when the permit is ready to be paid. You will come back to the Fairfax City Hall to pay for and pick up the permit.

After commercial building permit applications have been submitted and reviewed by the Fairfax Building Department, they must be submitted to the Fairfax City Council for approval. Check with the Fairfax City Hall for submittal deadlines and meeting dates.

No work is to begin until a building permit is paid for and issued. The City of Fairfax has adopted new application forms and new fee schedules as of November 9, 2016.

Sign Permit Application

Completed sign permit applications along with a drawing or picture of the sign, must be submitted to the Fairfax City Council for approval. Check with the city clerk's office for submittal deadlines and meeting dates. A sign permit fee of $3.00 per square foot is required to be submitted with the application paperwork.

Peddler's Permit Application

Completed peddler's permit applications are submitted at the Fairfax city clerk's office.

Golf Cart Permit Application

Completed golf cart permit applications are submitted at the Fairfax city clerk's office with a $30.00 check or cash payment. Please bring a current drivers license and proof of insurance coverage for the golf cart. Golf cart permits must be renewed every year.
