Rental Housing Inspection Program

The City of Fairfax City Council passed a new Ordinance #92 - Rental Housing Regulations during their meeting in September of 2024.  We have ran information about this new regulation in the last few Fairfax FACTS monthly newsletters.

All residential landlords with the City of Fairfax are required to register with the City as a landlord and list each unit that is offered for rent or lease.  We need this completed by December of 2024.  Once the registration form and payment have been received, you will be contacted to schedule the inspection.  Each unit will be inspected.  The landlord, tenant, or a representative will need to be present during any inspection.  Inspections will begin in January 2025.

A letter was mailed in October informing landlords about this information.  A registration form was enclosed as well as a list of the fees.
